One of the best things about starting this blog is the great people you meet through the magic of the interweb. One of those great people is Lee who runs a great label called Jewish Noise which I’ve now added to my blogroll. Le was good enough to send me some of his label’s recent releases and mighty fine things they are to. I’ve been immersed in work and a world of Merzbow so haven’t been able to properly post on the other records as yet. Out of the three things Lee sent me I thought I’d start with the mighty fine Jewish Noise Magazine, not a magazine in the traditional sense but rather a photocopied sheet enclosing a Cd. The first issue is field recordings sent in by a variety of aspiring artists. I am a sucker for field recordings and this is a pretty great collection of everything from a thunderstorm in New Jersey, traditional Jewish rites, oral histories, street noise etc. Fantastic stuff. I’ve been passing this around my immediate circle of friends who are open to such things and the reaction has been uniformly positive. I admire anyone who has the guts to start their own label and they deserve our support.
